Overview & Context

Based at AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles, the West Coast's premier hub for ocean innovation, Braid Theory is a key venture advisory partner for Leviathan. As an active member of the Spring 2026 LA Blue Accelerator cohort, Leviathan works within a network of blue-economy pioneers, port administrators, and industry experts to shape commercial go-to-market strategies.

Strategic Integration

Leviathan leverages Braid Theory’s 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship platform to streamline early station deployments. This structure enables corporate sponsors, environmental foundations, and port authorities to direct non-dilutive funding into localized coastline observation stations cleanly and efficiently, accelerating hardware coverage without upfront municipal capital.

Strategic Collaboration & Pilots

Mentored by AJ Schlenger, PhD (marine scientist and sturgeon-detection specialist), the team focuses on aligning real-time coastal telemetry with environmental planning standards. Under advisor Carl Gouldman (former NOAA U.S. IOOS Director), Leviathan is structuring integration paths with regional ocean observing systems (SCCOOS). The accelerator culminates in the IGNITE22 Showcase on June 16, 2026, where Leviathan will present live coastal intelligence to key port sponsors and blue-economy investors.
